Building, Owning, and Transforming a Print-on-Demand Platform
From Web-to-Print to Enterprise E-Commerce

OVERVIEW
A three-year journey from the press room to platform ownership
When I joined Nutis Press in January 2022 as a Prepress Graphic Designer, the company had an idea for a web-to-print platform — a self-service site where customers could customize and order printed products without a sales rep in the middle. The vision was there. The execution wasn't.
Over the next three years, I went from learning the presses in the back to owning the platform end-to-end, earning a promotion to Web Design Manager, and ultimately leading the conversion of that platform into a fully branded enterprise web store for one of the company's largest clients: Coke Consolidated.
NO PRODUCT MOCKUPS
Customers had no visual reference for what they were actually buying — just a flat template editor with no finished-product context.
Poor Navigation
A flat, undifferentiated menu structure made it nearly impossible to browse the catalog logically. No hierarchy, no grouping, no clear path.
No SEO Foundation
Every product page was essentially invisible to search engines — no descriptions, no tags. Organic discovery wasn't happening.
Cluttered Templates
Too many interactive elements made customization overwhelming rather than empowering, especially for non-designers.
Weak Product Listings
Missing attributes, descriptions, and filtering meant customers couldn't make informed decisions or narrow results.
Thin Template Library
A limited range of product templates restricted the platform's potential customer base and made the catalog feel underdeveloped.
The Problem
A platform with potential and serious UX debt
The platform had the technical infrastructure in place but was failing at the most fundamental level: customers couldn't find what they needed, couldn't understand what they were looking at, and couldn't complete an order without friction.

Operational ownership
Processed orders, managed artwork submissions, tracked product performance, and collaborated with Consolidated on catalog pruning to improve discoverability.

Sep 2023 – Apr 2024 — Consolidated Conversion
Enterprise platform build
Led the end-to-end conversion into a Coke Consolidated branded e-commerce store. Figma wireframes, vendor coordination across four organizations, Punchout-to-Ariba integration, brand compliance with Consolidated's UX team.

Jun 2023 — Promoted to Web Design Manager
Platform overhaul and SEO foundation
Rebuilt information architecture, navigation, product pages, and checkout flows across 30+ page types. Applied SEO descriptions and tags across 400+ products. Revenue and order volume began climbing.
3
Early 2022 — Self-Directed Platform Work
Identifying gaps and building the foundation
Used available time to document UX problems, build the foundational template library across industries, and test the customization layer — learning both the design and production sides of every product.

Jan 2022 — Hired as Prepress Designer
Learning the production side
Learned digital, screen, and offset print methods. Proofed customer files and established preflight QA procedures that reduced press-stage production errors.

My Journey
Earning the role by doing the work first
I wasn't asked to improve the platform. I saw problems I could fix and an opportunity I wanted to be part of — so I started working on it in whatever time was available.

RESULTS
I'm a designer who finds the problem before anyone asks, and sees it through until the numbers prove it out.
The second version was the Coke Consolidated store — a ground-up enterprise build with real procurement integration, real brand compliance requirements, and real stakes. $151K in platform revenue and a 130% year-over-year growth rate are the receipts.
The first version was self-directed. No one asked me to rebuild the navigation, write 400 product descriptions, or design a template library from scratch. I did it because the platform wasn't working and I knew how to make it better.
"I built this platform twice — once to prove I could, and once because a major client needed it to work"
