"Team Joe"
Freelance Designer
Sept - Oct, 2019
Designed logo for "Team Joe" to support Erica Ciardelli's fundraising team for the Columbus Nationwide Children's Hospital Marathon.
Erica Ciardelli and her son, Joe, a "CMV Warrior"

For the front of the t-shirt design, I incorporated the Columbus skyline, as well as a sun with a headband as the main elements. The Columbus skyline was chosen to draw representation to both the COlumbus Half Marathon, as well as Children's Hospital, which is famously centered in Columbus.

The sun represents the "bright light' that Joe is to his entire family and anyone who meets him. Quick to flash a grin, he always seems to be in good spirits and warms the hearts of those around him.

The headband on the sky helps draw attention to one of the side-effects of CMV, which Joe deals with daily. Joe has cochlear implants, and as a toddler, wears a headband to help keep the bluetooth probes in place against his head.

The sun is reaching out to hug the J and the E on either side of it, representing both Family and the Team aspects.
For the back of the shirt, I wanted to convey the fact that anyone dealing with CMV is a warrior, pushing through struggles to move forward.
I illustrated a black-and-white ninja character in an action pose to convey this message. I kept the logo and text small, acting more of a badge on the back of the shirt rather than the main illustration.
